A Day at the Park

In Alaska, my first instinct on a warm sunny day is to pack up the kids, the dog, lunch, the bikes, strollers or whatever else and spend all day at a park, maybe even a few parks and then grab dinner on the way home before the sunsets, at 10pm. After dinner, bath the dirty boys and send them all to bed, out of energy and full of vitamin D. Knowing full well that the next day may not be as nice.
Sometimes in Alaska, we would get a streak of good luck and by day 4 of spending all day in the sun, I would begin to pray for rain or snow. I had cleaning to do and laundry to be done.I just could not bring myself to clean on beautiful sunny days. They were so few and far between in Alaska.
However, in Wichita this is not the case. Today it hit 98 degrees! It is to hot to play outside, to hot to slide on the slides, to hot to ride bikes. . .it is just hot!! Even the shade with a slight breeze is hot!
These pictures were taken a couple days before it hit 98 degrees. These pics were 76-79degrees with a strong cool breeze. It was nice.
So here I sit in the coolness of the basement blogging. Thankfully our rooms and the family room are in the basement. The cool basement. It is ideal for this Alaskan family.
These are the last photos that you will see for a while with us wearing long sleeves and pants.
Gram's and Pops have a Wii in the family room, which is in the basement. So on days where the heat is unbearable we head down for a family fun time of Wii!! It has only happened once however. I think we are starting to get use to the HOT weather.

I think we will play in the sprinklers tomorrow!!!

Oh bummer! The outdoor pools do not open for
another MONTH!! What is up with Wichita!! Really?

  1. I am totally in "Forget about housework-- let's play outside" mode! I don't think our house has ever looked so messy for so long. But you just don't know when the rainy season's going to hit, right?
