Week 15 and 16

Here we go with our 2 week update!!

Home school is going AWESOME! I love it. . .WE love it!! This month we covered the pilgrims more in depth then I ever have and we enjoyed learning about their voyage to the "New World" As one of our hands-on projects we made butter! It was fun and yummy to make.

 Heavy whipping cream, jars and two active boys = BUTTER! They shook and shook until the cream thickened into butter! Can you guess whose was thicker??

 Josiah decided to have his reading time in his comfy chair. . . in Daddy's comfy chair.

 We have a friend who is a parametric in Vancouver, WA. Her husband attends school with Dave. She works in Vancouver every other week and is here in the Yak on her off weeks. We enjoying hanging with her and the boys love her! This week she was gone for work, however, we got a super cool surprise. She had a transport from Vancouver to Yakima and she stopped by to show off her ambulance to the boys. She hooked them up to the EKG machine and showed them their heart beats. Now the boys think they have waves in their hearts. Super fun!!

IT SNOWED!!!!!! We were so excited to see the snow falling on the ground! YEAH!!! It warms up during the day and normally starts to melt it, but then the next morning new snow is falling. It makes for icy roads when is drops below freezing, but this rarely happens. I heard that Thanksgiving week it suppose to be in the low 50s!!! So we are saying good-bye to the snow. I think we will see it again though.

 The boys spend so much time outside. More so then they did when there was NO snow on the ground. I think they miss Alaska. Sadly, we do not have enough for sledding yet and I think that makes them a little sad. But for now we will enjoy the sweet gift we have.

YEAH for SCIENCE! This last week Benn and I did a study on Volcanoes. After drawing pictures, watching documentaries and reading lots of books, Daddy, Benn and JJ built a volcano and made it explode! (Nothing major ;) I did not get a good picture of the eruption but it happened and it was cool.

I think we made it erupt 3 or 4 times and each time was more fun!!! We decided to save the volcano and maybe we will cause another eruption soon.

Dave is doing well and is excited for our short Thanksgiving break. He gets off early Tuesday and does not have to go back until Monday. I am so proud of Dave, he is doing a wonderful job keeping up good scores at school and keeping up good scores at home, not only with the kiddos but also with me. He has learned to manage everything very well. Coming into medical school we were prepared to be missing Dave a lot and I was prepared to be a single mom. While we do miss him a lot he has managed to be very hands on with everything here at home, he lifts my load whenever he can, even if it is a quick 10 min shower during his lunch break or a quick diaper change. Because the time we spend together is so guarded and precious it is deep and meaningful making everything much easier. Dave helps me write up my lesson plans for school, he is very active with the kids and we have a date night every weekend (We call them in-home dates). We do know this season of life is only for a short time and in that I think we find peace, but knowing that God is present in everything we do makes this time wonderful. We would have it no other way, we love the lessons we are learning as we travel this path.
