SO, WEEK ONE: Aug 8-12
It was a success in our book. . . Only one down and MANY more to go!
I have met some great women with awesome kids to play with and Dave has met some great guys to study with. At this point things are going smoothly and we are prepared for rough times as school gets harder and moves at a faster pace. But for now we are enjoying the easy and slow transition into school. We have established a few things that will help keep the spirits high in our home.
1) We eat dinner together each night, this is something we intend on keeping no matter what. Even if Daves comes home for 30 mins to eat and then goes back to school to study more. This is a perk we get to enjoy because we live only a few blocks from school.
2) Family time/night! Each day Dave wrestles with the boys or kicks a soccer ball around outside with them. Again, this may change to 30 mins and could vary from day to day. But the boys LOVE anytime they get to play with Daddy. Family nights are Friday nights and we choose from a variety of things to do. This past Friday we played Sequence. Dave won each time!
3) Date night: Is Saturday. This past Saturday we stayed in and watch a movie after the boys were in bed. I predict that I will beat Dave at some card games on some of these Saturdays :)
4) SUNDAYS: At this point Dave plans NOT to study on Sundays. But we know this could change and so for now, we will enjoy them. Last Sunday we hiked out to Boulder Caves and today we drove out to Imperial Gardens to buy fresh picked produce.
Everything is still new and we want to remain humble during this whole process. We know it will get hard but we believe that God has called us here for a reason and in that we have faith that He is going to multiply our efforts if we continue to serve Him in everything. It was not meant to be easy. It is meant to be a challenge, to grow us closer to Him each day. We are here on this earth to bring glory to God and we have chosen to bring Him glory each and everyday serving Him with all our hearts in this season of our lives. We will choose to sing praises to God even on the roughest days knowing full well he will never leave us. We can either sit and complain everyday that this is too hard or we can shout songs of praise to HIM and let him lead us.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
