Shoo Fly Pie and Whoopee pie

Shoo Fly Pie received its name for obvious reasons. The women were constantly shooing away flies from this sweet molasses treat!
Whoopee Pie: After the women made a cake for a celebration leftovers were slathered with a yummy vanilla cream and place together as a sandwich and often placed in the lunches of men or school children. When the treat was discover a shout of WHOOPEE was heard. There you have it Whoopee pie.

I have decided that I am going to take cooking class from Amish women or maybe find a cook book. The food was hearty and good! I enjoyed eating, eating and eating!! If you are ever in the Lancaster area. Find a good smorgasbord and dig in! You will be glad you did! 
The pretzels you see below are by far the best pretzels Dave or I have ever had! They were on the smorgasbord line hot and fresh! We ate one to many of these tasty treats and now our mouths water just thinking about them! :)
